This new public plaza has activated a forgotten, dead-end inlet between two buildings abutting highway 101, transforming the space into a park, gathering place and neighborhood center for the connection point between Market Street and the north entry to the vibrant Valencia corridor.
The Hub’s meandering paths, seating and paved areas are designed to accommodate many community uses and events, including small-scale vendors, a farmers market, food trucks and more. Its gently sloping walkways are universally accessible, and intended to be inviting to as many San Franciscans as possible. As Valencia is a well-used bike commuting route, we have made sure to create a separate, clear path for speedy cyclists to the side of the plaza.
Boor Bridges collaborated extensively with the local community and various city agencies over a span of three years to realize this urban rejuvenation project.
